    UPLIFTED MY DAY

Monday, December 15, 2008, 08:38 PM CST [General]

I just finished mixing things up on my shop on Etsy.  I changed zeeks pic of the week and updated new info.  I have decided to offer free priority mail shipping (which usually takes about two days) through Dec 22.  I know there are last minute shoppers out there, so I just want to ease their pain of procrastination.

I love reading the feedback after a buyer receives one of my bird toys.  I don't take great pictures of my toys (still learning about digital) so I guess they are positively pleased when they open the package.  I have been told many times that my pictures don't do my toys justice.  Perhaps that is why they sell really fast here at the shops in Portland, because people see the real product in person.

In the new year, I will be working EXTRA hard on improving my photo skills.  I mean, it's great that my toys look good in person, however, that doesn't help my online sales very much.  There is so much to consider when trying to make a stab at a home business with online sales.  Sometimes, I feel like I will never get the hang of it.

We are in for another big snow event for Wed & Thurs.  Then another possible one on Sat.  The messiest storm will be on Sat, because it will be the "turnover" event.  Meaning, warmer pacific moisture will come over the top of the cold artic air.  That usually leaves us with a pretty nasty silver thaw before it all melts and turns into regular rain.

My neice, Kami, just gave birth seven weeks early to a baby girl (no name yet).  Baby is only on room oxygen at the moment and expected to go home in about two weeks.  She is a tiny three pounds.

    Take care everyone!

    LET IT SNOW

Sunday, December 14, 2008, 09:16 PM CST [General]

Here in Portland, Oregon it is snowing like crazy!  We usually only get small amounts of snow each year that last maybe two days.  However, this snow event is going to last around ten days.  We are under an artic blast.

Being stuck at home will give me plenty of time to make more toys (perhaps some new ones) and get them ready for shipping.  I am hoping that I will get some more sales as it gets closer to Christmas.

I will also try to blog more.  I tend to be neglective when it comes to blogging.  I know that blogging and participating in forums on Etsy is a great way to get exposure for my shop.

    Blessings,

    Michelle

    SLOW TIMES

Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:06 PM CST [General]

Online sales have been really slow.  I made only one sale over the weekend, which I am thankful for.  I guess I set myself up by believing that Black Friday and Cyber Monday would be HUGE.  My toys are selling well here in Portland at the shops I have them in.  I just thought the internet would be so much better.  You know, because of the massive amount of people you can reach all at once.  Perhaps I am doing something wrong with the marketing of my craft.  I welcome feedback from other crafters.
