    Lost patterns

Thursday, December 4, 2008, 06:45 AM GMT [Wikkid Stitches]

OMG, where'd it go? where'd it go?! WHERE'D IT GO?!?!?!

I'm sure we've all been there, you make up something, and make sure to write down the pattern well enough to do it all again and then when your ready to recreate or just collect up all the pages of patterns and stick em back in the folder again, they're gone.

I did that with my pattern for my fingerless gloves, It was a good pattern, a sweet pattern, and it worked, not just the first time when I wrote it... but where the heck did it go? I've searched through the piles of papers I just can't bear to toss just cause I'm like that (packrat much?) and its not in either one of the two wal-mart bags im currently using as random trashbags, so where is it? The paper goblins must have snatched it (they get cold hands too right?) or maybe it just grew legs and ran away from home....

Oh well, maybe it just means I need to start over, they were a lil too loose through the wrist area, and I'm sure I could do something about the fit around the thumb too... ok, lets have at it, look at one of the gloves made from the original pattern, simple enough to start, now maybe instead of just using the same hook throughout, i'll switch up a size through some of the wirst area, and maybe I don't need to add in so much ease through the hand area oh yeah, and lets enlarge the thumb bit another row...

Oh wow!! These are great, I really love em, where i just liked the way they worked up before!!  Now lets pull all that and start fresh, its fine from the 3rd row, but lets make sure the tension is even throughout, and double check that the pattern is written right, sweet.. now on to the second, glovies are no good without a mate... Ohh.. really great.

DAmn, now I got em finished, n oohhhh I like this yarn, but these are already up on etsy, too bad theres only enough left to make  a posy applique, guess thats another something to get to eventually...

    My aching fingers

Monday, November 24, 2008, 08:21 PM GMT [Wikkid Stitches]

I love my crocheting, but man, that repetetive action really gets to my fingers. But then again, it could just be getting used to moving that hook as quickly as I do when I'm on a roll making something.

Maybe I'm looking at things a little funny, mom, coach, the personal trainer and so many others always have said, "no pain, no gain". And maybe their right, If I hadn't been working so hard, I wouldn't be able to finish all my wonderful little projects and ideas, so I'll take a little pain for my craft, and gain the knowledge and skill of a few new stitches and designs.

I love the fingerless glove pattern I came up with, but after working on a great set with really creative cabling, I realize I'm going to need to write instructions for a right and left, since it became abvious that the pattern is somewhat one sided, so to speak.

And I've absolutely fallen in love with strawberrys.. No, not the lovely little red gems we all associate with summer (though I do totally love and lust them), but a modified pineapple pattern that gives you a 'berry' pleasing pattern once its stitched up. I think this scarf might have been part of the start of my pain, but I love the gain from this one!

Its time to 'just keep swimming', and appreciate the gain from the pain!

    For the Love of Seasons

Thursday, November 13, 2008, 02:20 AM GMT [Wikkid Stitches]

OMG, its almost winter already.. I can't believe it, it feels like school just started and now the Thanksgiving break is coming up and stores are crammed full to the rafters of Christmas!

But anyways, my usual fall obsession finaly struck me the other night, YARN.. so warm n soft and just everything i think about when the weather changes. Maybe its just Texas this year, the weather has only just turned for us this year. Last year it was freakin freezin for Halloween. Oh Well.

So earlier this yer I found out about Etsy, and i think i've found a possible outlet for my obsessive stitching! YAY!!

So I opened up my little shop last night before I even had any pics taken or anything ready. Made my banner and icon as i needed em, and didn't have a chance to add anything till this morning. And to my surprise I have 2 ppl *heart*ing my shop already!!

so now I have a few of the things I've finished in the last couple days that arent totally being stolen by the kids for their personal abuse, and I'm ready to go.

    What Gives?

    Friday, November 7, 2008, 10:46 PM GMT [Kaylor's Kreations]

OK, So what gives? Ae people so jaded with spammers and uninvited crap in their post boxes, that a simple and honest offer to try something new for free is just too risky?

Or is it the something new that scares people? So what I offer isn't Bath and Body Works or a Yankee Candle, but that doesn't mean it isn't a quality product. If after nearly a dozen years of handcrafting my soaps and lotions and other bath goodies, I don't know what i'm doing, PLEASE take me out n shoot me. For Real!

Who actually likes the feel of petrolatum on their skin? I guess most people uing commercial lotions and the like and still sitting there wondering why their skin isn't nice and smooth and moisturized, but just greasy and kinda slimey. I personally and most physically shudder when I walk down the lotion aisle or see someone with some commercial product in their carts.. I just want to grab them and shake them and tel them very specifically exactly what it is in that bottle of chemicals they're planning to buy and then slather all over their bodys.

Not that I don't think there are uses for things like petrolatum and other chemicals in life, I just don't think most of them should be in something your wanting/supposed to put on your body in a regular manner. But then again, maybe more people are just masocists and enjoy mistreating their skin.

    Oh well... live and learn.
