    Forgive Me When I Whine

    Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 10:00 PM [General]

I posted this in my other blog, but it bears repeating:

Today a upon a bus, I saw a girl with golden hair, I envied her, she seemed so happy, I wish I were as fair.

When suddenly she rose to leave, and I saw her hobble down the aisle. She had one leg and wore a crutch, but as she passed, she smiled.

Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I have two legs and the world is mine.

Later on the way to work, I stopped to buy some sweets, and the lad who sold them had such charm. I talked with him a little while, if I were late, it would do no harm.

As I left, he said to me, "Thank you, sir. You've been so kind. It's nice to talk to folks like you. You see," he said,"I'm blind."

Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I have two eyes, and the world is mine.

Later walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue. He stood and watched the other play. It seemed he didn't know what to do.

So I decided to ask him, "Why don't you join the others dear?" He looked straight ahead without a word, and then I knew; he couldn't hear.

Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I have two ears and the world is mine.

With legs to take me where I go, with eyes to see the sunset's glow, with ears to hear what I would know.

Oh God, forgive me when I whine. I'm blessed indeed, and the world is mine.

    New Sunflower Pendant

    Saturday, May 16, 2009, 12:04 AM [General]

I'm still having a love affair with sunflowers. They are just such an embodiment of this time of year. I created a fabulous new pendant using some leftover sunflowers I had made from polymer clay. It's completely irregular, and I did the necklace strand on 17 lb test fishing line. A little E-6000 glue and some Swarovski crystals, and voila! gorgeous necklace!

Hmm, evidently I can't post the picture IN the blog, so you'll have to go my photos to see it.  I'll upload it in a minute. :)

Anyway, I had a great amount of fun working on this particular necklace, and I got tons of compliments on it. Even the lady at Wal-Mart who checked my out liked it! (No, she wasn't checking me out like THAT!) I had been concerned, because even though I liked it didn't guarantee that anybody else would. It just goes to show that even we artists can be wrong occasionally!

Ya'll have a fab day, and do something awesome for someone. Hug 'em and tell 'em you love 'em! (Love you, Grandpa!)

    Sunflowers

    Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 10:22 PM [General]

I'm sure you can tell from my page setup here, but I absolutely love sunflowers. They finally inspired me to create some totally awesome jewelry. I made some of my gorgeous polymer clay faces and covered them with sunflowers. I've made sunflower earrings, sunflower faces, sunflower pendants - I've been really loving the yellow lately. I guess summertime is trying to seep it's way into my winter-starved little soul. I really dislike being cold - not wild about really hot, but this time of year is just about right!

I know it's been a while since I've been here - I've been busy reshooting the items in our shop - again. We ran a craftcult ad last week, and if you haven't done that yet, it's worth looking into. Julian over at www.craftcult.com is great to work with, and gave us an extra day when our ad didn't quite run on time. Life happens. :) We're going to run another ad on www.craftopolis.com starting next Sunday, so go check it out. For those of you who know, Craftcult is a fantastic place to go check out the "hearts" your Etsy shop gets, and Craftopolis is where you go to see if you're in a Treasury. Beats the heck out of searching through 600 lists to find that gold star!

It's been a busy month as far as creating, but boy were the sales slow! Go check us out, though - we have added some gorgeous vintage items and I've added some brand new handmade jewerly items. My mom created a fabulous pair of earrings that are very popular right now with folks. I'm gonna get outta here, but before I do, I'm gonna tell you to have a fantabulous day!
