About Me I do my craft in Southern Indiana but some of my photos were taken elsewhere. Some by me and some by friends. My website name pretty much tells you what I do. I love taking photographs and making them come to life using glitter. I've been doing it a while, but this is my first attempt at selling them to the public. I hope you like what you see. Let me know if you have any questions or special requests. I love doing custom work :)

Hello Debbie, Oh boy, I'm also sick of snow. Yesterday and today are so wonderful. In the high 50's. Heat wave I love the spring, although the pollen does get to me.
My fingers have been keeping busy. Working on second afghan and it is really coming along great. Don't you love it when orders just keep coming in and we are in a mood to DO NOTHING crafty? Just kidding.. I love getting paid to do something I LOVE to do. Hope your family is doing great. Always enjoy hearing from you. I just need to get on the computer more.

    Hi Debbie,
How are you handling the crazy weather in Indiana? I hope we see some warmer weather soon. I know the snow is pretty, but sure is hanging on week after week.. When the weather is bad at least a person can craft. I hope you have been crafting, your photos are so wonderful..
    Have a great day.

    An Exciting Opportunity

Saturday, March 13, 2010, 02:23 PM CST [General]

Last weekend I was given an exciting opportunity for exposure. I was contacted by a woman with the Kentucky Derby Festival wanting to know if I would like to donate 2 of my photographs for their annual Derby Charity Art Auction on April 20th. She asked me to think about it and I said okay I would......2 seconds later I said YES I would love to do it. LOL that didn't take a long time to decide! This is 1 of their premier Art Auctions of the Derby festival and all proceeds go to a different charity every year. They put all their artist info into the Event brochure that everyone gets to take home and business cards are placed on the display tables for the Auction.

From where I sit it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase my photographs and get great exposure. This auction is attended by hundreds of celebs, owners, trainers, jockeys and most importantly their wives. This year I have been informed that all 3 living jockeys of the Triple Crown Winners will also be there. Sure, I'm not going to make any money off of this (I've already spent some on beautiful frames) but that's not the point. The point is to have my work showcased for people inside and outside of the area to see. You just never know what may come from an opportunity like this. It sure would be nice to one day tell my boss "I'm going to retire from the brokerage business and go what I love to do". Who of us haven't wanted to do that more than once??? lol

They picked out 1 of my non glittered Fireworks shots since it was from Thunder Over Louisville, which is the opening ceremony to the Derby Festival. I was asked to pick out 1 of my glittered photographs also which I have done. Both are sitting here in my office/workshop all beautifully framed and ready to deliver next week.

So I will see where this goes to and enjoy it too. Derby season in the Louisville area (including southern Indiana) is always a lot of fun with everything going on but this year it will be just a bit more exciting.

I wonder if I'll find out who it was that purchased my photographs afterwards??? It would be cool to know that some big shot somewhere has it hanging in their office or home........

Happy crafting everyone! Debbie aka glitteringphotos

    Custom Order

Saturday, January 16, 2010, 08:56 PM CST [General]

I just finished a rather odd (for me) custom order the other day, but I've had a lot of fun doing it. I was contacted by a gentleman that is doing paintings of urban decay for some sort of historical purposes. He lives in a neighboring community & had seen my photos in the local shop where I consign. He said he knew this wasn't my speciality but thought I might be interested in doing it. That peeked my curosity for sure. He asked me if I would be interested in taking some photographs of a bankrupt convenient store where the new owners are still using the old signs. I guess it's cheaper to keep the signs than to replace them. After some discussions, I told him that I would be happy to take some photos for him, which I did on New Years weekend. Of course I had to go do it on 1 of the coldest days of the year so far LOL. I picked a few & emailed them to him. He's decided that he wants two of them so they are being processed. I can't wait to get them, and deliver them to him. I've always enjoyed taking landscape/nature photos so this was a big difference for me. It was kinda weird since I'm usually looking at the natural beauty & not looking at things as old or delapidated.....nature is usually brand new.

I did just finish a new glittered photo which I posted here & in my Etsy shop. Check it out & let me know what you think.

    Special Time of Year

Saturday, December 19, 2009, 04:34 PM CST [General]

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my fellow crafters a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. And to not leave anyone that doesn't celebrate Christmas I want to wish you a Happy Holiday Season no matter what you happen to believe in.

This is a special time of year for just about everyone and I would like to take a moment to thank all of my MyCraft family for the support and advice this past year. Being very new to the online selling venues I have appreciated the kind words and encourgement that I have received from all of you. Your words of encourgement when I have been down will forever be engraved in my memory. The impact of your friendships goes beyond words.

In this busiest of seasons take a moment and reflect on this past year whether it was good, bad or indifferent and remember those that have touched you the most. Also, remember those less fortunate than yourself and thank God (or whomever) for everything we have been given.

    See you in 2010!

    Debbie
