How to Chrochet A Chunky Last Minute Scarflet

Friday, January 16, 2009, 03:34 PM CST [General]

Close with a flower pin, or sew on a button that can be worked through the open stitch. If youre in a jam, a large safety pin with some beads threaded on it will work, too!

First, take several strands from four or five skeins of yarn and wind them together as one into a large ball (about the size of a canteloupe). It's easier to crochet the prewound blended yarn than to tug at all of the balls at once while you crochet.

Next, make a foundation chain for as long as you want the scarf/scarflet to be. (Make sure you wrap it around your neck, leaving lots of room for overlap. Then add a few more chain stitches just to be safe.)

Then, turn the work and single crochet in the second chain and each chain across. Repeat for as many rows as necessary to get the height you desire for your scarflet.

Close with a flower pin, or sew on a button that can be worked through the open stitch. If you're in a jam, a large safety pin with some beads threaded on it will work, too!
