    Hi Naomi,

I see that you've been busy making more things! Very nice! I finally got another camera, now all I have to do is get better at using it:( Product photography has not been my strongest skill. I'm working on it! I've heard there is yet more snow on the way for us & I just bought plants yesterday! Luckily they're all cooler weather plants. I hope all is well with you!

The Handmade Movement - Home of the Sneak Attack

Monday, March 2, 2009, 07:15 AM CST [General]

Check out the web site, The Handmade Movement, home of the Sneak Attack.

"A Sneak Attack is when at an appointed time an Etsy shop with few or no sales is announced on the Handmade Movement web site [and a forum thread is started on Etsy].  As many people as possible then buy items from that shop, resulting in a frenzy of surprise business to the unsuspecting shop!"

Participation in a Sneak Attack can be making a purchase from the selected shop, or visiting and joining in on the Attack-specific thread in the Etsy forums.  Etsy shops selected for a Sneak Attack have to meet certain criteria, including having 4 or less sales; recent updates; and more.  Check out the Handmade Movement FAQ for more information.  You cannot nominate yourself for a Sneak Attack.

To date there have been 71 Sneak Attacks on a total of 86 shops, resulting in 1015 sales.

"The Handmade Movement is the collective energy and creativity of Artists and Crafters who work with their hands. This site's purpose is to support sellers and buyers of handmade items- right now the main focus being through the "Sneak Attack". Although unaffiliated with Etsy, we focus in particular on shops of handmade items from Etsy."

My Polka Dot and Hearts Earrings in an Etsy Treasury!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 06:45 AM CST [General]

An Etsy Treasury is a member-curated gallery of 12 hand-picked items. Members feature their favorite items.  My Polka Dot and Hearts earrings, were selected!  I am very happy, and very flattered.

Here's a link to the Treasury.

The Treasury will be available for viewing until 7:19 AM Eastern (I think it's Eastern time) Friday, January 30, 2009.

The Treasury's theme is HeartAbility, and the items are all handmade by members of the CreateAbility Team Etsy, a group of artists with disabilities, or who are caregivers to disabled folks.  I am a proud member of the CreateAbility Team Etsy.  I hope you get a chance to check out the Treasury.

My thanks to UnusualFelineObjects for including my earrings in their Treasury.

    I'm doing a happy dance!

I Fought a Cold, and the Cold Won

Wednesday, January 21, 2009, 07:36 AM CST [General]

I've been staving off a cold for about a week, and I have given in to the coughing and sneezing side of the Force.  Vitamin C; zinc; honey and lemon tea; rest - all to no avail.  I have to admit that cold germs have more stamina than I do, and they outlasted me.

Definitely a cold though, not a flu - thank goodness.  Colds come on slowly, and make me feel whiny-sick.  A flu will come out of no where, knock me down, and have me writing out my last will and testament using cough syrup on a Kleenex, convinced that I could not possibly survive something that makes me feel that bad.

So, I'm schlepping around the house in flannel 'jammies, with pockets full of tissues, waiting for this cold to finish having its way with me.   Argh.

    Coughingly Yours,

    Naomi
